What the video covers
- Race and class together pick your archetype, and the archetype decides your whole skill tree. For example, a human mage becomes an Elemental Ranger and a minotaur mage becomes an Earthshaker. 2:17
- The skill tree has four wings. Race skills sit on one axis and class skills on the other, so read the character creation screen before you commit. 2:45
- Each archetype has a passive that ties one attribute to damage. In the video, Elemental Ranger gets magic damage from Adventure and Echo Weaver gets it from Agility. The game files give +0.25 Magic Damage per Adventure point and +0.5 per Agility point. 3:20
- The video says it found no way to reset attributes. The game files have one:
Elixir of Rebirth resets your attributes and gives the XP back. 4:10 - You do not level up by reaching an XP bar. You spend XP on attributes at a campfire or at the trainer, and every level gained gives 2 skill points, as in the game files. 4:18
- Most spells come from spellbooks. You craft them yourself or at a merchant once you have found the recipe; the video says magic books are usually at Tamsin and physical ones at Rahaner. 5:22
- Every spellbook needs certain attribute levels before you can learn the spell. 5:50
- For example,
Flaming Strike needs 7 Memory, 8 Adventure and 7 Energy, which matches the game files. 6:43 - Small nodes give small passive bonuses. Major nodes, usually three per wing, change a starting skill or unlock a new one, and a branch of modifiers follows each major node. Medium nodes are strong passives that can change how you play. 8:03
- You can refund skill points at any time. The video says the first few are free and then it costs a little gold. The game files give one free refund per level gained; after that a refund costs gold. 8:55
- Every gear piece belongs to a named set, and you can mix sets. 9:41
- On a fire mage the author wore 3
Convergence and 3
Pyreweaver pieces. 10:07 - At the forge you salvage gear you do not want into runes, then spend them to upgrade gear. After a few upgrades a piece gains new stat lines, and better quality gear has more lines. 10:35
- Some set bonuses boost one specific skill, and a few change how that skill works. 11:04
- Pets carry items for you. You can send them to sell those items or to drop them in your storage chests at the base. 11:41
- Each pet also has a skill. The Carrion Parrot uses
Carrion Sweep on Bleeding enemies; the Moon Cat uses
Astral Purr, which restores Concentration. 12:10 - The author's advice is to try the systems yourself before you copy a build guide. 16:29
