These are the 9 questions new players ask most.
How do I level up?
Killing monsters and finishing quests gives you XP. XP alone does not level you up. You spend it to train your attributes, and the XP you spend fills your level bar.
You have enough XP to level up! Find a Trainer or Campfire to Train.
Each new level gives 2 skill points and 1 free skill refund. Level 1 to 2 costs 250 XP. The last step, 24 to 25, costs 11908 XP.
Every level and the attribute prices are on levels and attributes.
Can I respec?
Yes. Skill points and attributes reset in different ways.
Skill points come back through a refund. Each new level gives you 1 free refund. After that, each point costs 1 gold times a multiplier that climbs from ×1 to ×1.75 as you refund more.
Attributes come back when you drink an
Elixir of Rebirth. It returns all the XP you spent on attributes, so you can train them again.
It costs 500 gold in a shop. The game files do not name the seller. A Reddit guide from September 2026 says Befr sells it in the Sanctum once you upgrade his shop.

Which race and class should I pick?
You pick one race and one class. 3 races and 3 classes are playable, which makes 9 pairs. The game calls each pair an archetype. Each archetype has its own name and passive bonus, and adds a third skill tree.
| Elemental Ranger | Wildstrider | Gloom Stalker | |
| Earthshaker | Horned Vanguard | Xwin Dreadhorn | |
| Echo Weaver | Phase Duelist | Night's Whisper |
The create screen shows 4 tags per archetype. 2 come from the race and 2 from the class:
| Race or class | Tags | Starting spells |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter, Blade | ||
| Battle Axe, Earth | ||
| Twin Daggers, Time Magic | ||
| Fire, Frost | ||
| Stun, Durability | ||
| Shadow Arts, Plague Magic |
Each archetype starts with its own Health, Concentration and Stamina, and trains some attributes for less XP:
- Elemental Ranger: Adventure provides an additional 0.25 Magic Damage. Starts with 200 Health, 45 Concentration and 49 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Intelligence.
- Wildstrider: Adventure provides an additional 0.25 Physical Damage. Starts with 220 Health, 35 Concentration and 54 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Strength.
- Gloom Stalker: Adventure provides an additional 0.25% Attack Speed. Starts with 190 Health, 40 Concentration and 49 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Agility.
- Earthshaker: Strength gives an additional 0.5 Magic Damage. Starts with 210 Health, 40 Concentration and 54 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Intelligence.
- Horned Vanguard: Strength provides an additional 2.5 Stamina. Starts with 230 Health, 30 Concentration and 84 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Strength.
- Xwin Dreadhorn: Strength provides an additional 0.25% Attack Speed. Starts with 200 Health, 35 Concentration and 54 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Energy.
- Echo Weaver: Agility provides an additional 0.5 Magic Damage. Starts with 180 Health, 45 Concentration and 49 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Intelligence.
- Phase Duelist: Strength provides an additional 0.25% Attack Speed. Starts with 200 Health, 35 Concentration and 54 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Agility, Energy.
- Night's Whisper: Agility provides an additional 2.5 Stamina. Starts with 170 Health, 40 Concentration and 74 Stamina. Cheapest to train: Agility.
The files also hold 6 races and 3 classes that the create screen does not offer.
The files do not rank them. Pick the tags and spells you like, then plan the tree.
Plan your buildPick an archetype and place all 60 skill points. How many skill points are there?
There are 60 in all. You get 2 for each new level, so 48 by level 25. The other 12 come one each from the first kill of these bosses:
Briarheart The Firecursed
Aelwynor The Wildroot Father
Smashmouth
Goblin King
High Priestess Althaea Of The Tirathlan
Monstrous Droop (level 7, Earlwood Farmlands I)
Gotburg The Burned
Wildwood Wolf Alpha (Wildwood Forest IIB)
Corrupted Monstrous Droop
Corrupted Treant
Wildwood Wolf Alpha (Wildwood Forest IVc)
Woldroot The Path Guardian
The developer wrote on the game's Discord on 2026-09-19 that a second character in a world where the bosses are already dead cannot get the point for Wildwood Wolf Alpha (Wildwood Forest IVc). In the files it is the Alpha Wolf B point.
Refunds are explained on skill points and refunds.
Stamina or Concentration?
You use both. Concentration is the game's mana: spells cost it. Stamina pays for sprinting and for some attacks and spells.
In a fight, Concentration does not refill on its own. Your basic attacks refill it when they land. Out of a fight, both refill by themselves.
A basic attack costs 1 Stamina as
Human or
Elf.
A basic attack costs 3 Stamina as
Minotaur.
What should I do in the first hour?
- Follow the main quest. It starts with
The First Steps. - Build a
Campfire (1
Wildwood Pine) and a
Workbench (2
Pinewood Planks) first. You cook at one and craft at the other. - Build a
Pinewood Chest for storage. It has 18 slots and costs 1
Stone Nails and 3
Pinewood Planks. - Rest at campfires to refill potions and other combat items.
- Stay Nourished, remember to Eat or Drink regularly. If you don't, your maximum Health, Concentration, and Stamina will decrease. The Nourishment page explains the meter.
- Upgrade your healing with
Tenderberry: Minor Health Throwflask +1 needs 5
Tenderberry, 3
Flax Rope and 1
Minor Health Throwflask. You craft it yourself without a station. - You can carry 300 weight at first. The Codex says only the Icons of Encumbrance you find in the world raise it.
- Fast Travel to any Waygates you have discovered on your map at any time.
Can I play with friends?
Yes, in a party of up to 8. A monster gets more Health for each player who fights it. With 8 of you, it has 2.74 times its solo Health.
Monster damage stays the same however many of you there are.
A downed player can be revived by an ally and comes back with 40% of their Health.
The settings menu has 2 sharing switches: Share Waygate Unlocks, Share Map Fragments.
The multiplayer page has the full table.
Whose world keeps your quests, and what moves between worlds: characters, worlds and co-op.
Why is it so hard after the Goblin King?
The
Goblin King is level 18. You fight him in
Hoard King's Fall. Before that quest, the creatures of the main story go up to level 12. In the main quests it opens, they go up to level 15, in Wildwood Forest Vd, Wildwood Forest Vc and Wildwood Forest Vb. Those quests are
Clear the Way,
Keys of Bark and Stone,
Light the Wayfinder Line,
Opening the Throne Path and
Crown of Thorns.
111 of their 273 creatures are above level 12, the highest level before.
The same kinds of creature come back stronger. Health is for one player on Moderate:
| Before | After | Level | Health |
|---|---|---|---|
Wildwood Wolf | Corrupted Wildwood Wolf | 5 to 14 | 320 to 1300 |
Treant | Rotting Treant | 8 to 15 | 2400 to 8000 |
The bosses in those areas are level 18 to 19:
High Priestess Althaea Of The Tirathlan,
Briarheart The Firecursed,
Corrupted Monstrous Droop,
Woldroot The Path Guardian.
- Spend every skill point. You get 2 per level, and one more from the first kill of each of 12 bosses. Check which boss points you still miss.
- Use your free refunds to move points into damage. Each new level gives 1. How refunds work.
- Get better runes from boss bounties. The bounty board lists what each tier drops.
- Play with friends. A monster's health grows with the players near it, but slower than the number of players. Split between you, each of you faces 70% with 2 players and 49% with 4 players of its solo health. Monster damage does not grow.
- Difficulty belongs to the world. A developer wrote on the game's Discord on 2026-09-14 that it is locked when you make the world. On 2026-09-18 a developer wrote that you can take the same character to a world of a lower difficulty. Quest progress belongs to the world, so the story starts over there. On Easy, monsters have ×0.85 Health and deal ×0.7 damage.
What is there after the story?
The level cap is 25. After the story you can:
- Work through the 39 deeds, the game's bounties, in the quest log.
- Beat the bosses you skipped for their skill points.
- Farm rune sets. Runes with 7 to 9 stars need level 30 to 40. The level cap is 25, so no one can wear them.
- Or wait for more. The developer wrote on the game's Discord that a new race and class come about every four months, and Act 2 in about a year.
- Switch to Hard, where monsters have ×1.3 Health and deal ×1.3 damage (all difficulties).
