Poison Elf Shadow
Contagion puts Poison on a target and spreads it to the pack.
Outbreak consumes that Poison, and two keystones turn the consumed Poison into fuel:
Temporal Rot applies Temporal Echo and a Decay burst,
Septic Aftercut gives Double Strike.
Limitless Onslaught then strikes once per Temporal Echo, and Double Strike makes each hit land twice.
The build
Open this build in the planner
The planner opens Night's Whisper with the tree and the attributes of this guide. Its Damage tab gives a damage per second estimate for your own gear and target.
Level 25 gives 48 points; the last 12 come from first boss kills.
Why the wiki picked this build
Poison, decay and plague is one of the top build themes in the build and balance channels. A player posted this exact plan: spend Poison with
Temporal Rot and
Septic Aftercut to feed
Limitless Onslaught.
Limitless Onslaught alone gets poor reviews from players because it needs Temporal Echo from another source, and this build supplies it. A player's tier list puts the Elf Shadow Double Strike idea in tier C, viable but needing work. The original tree sat behind a link to another planner, so this is the wiki's own starter tree.

Why it works
- One cast of
Outbreak does three jobs: its own Decay damage, Temporal Echo from
Temporal Rot and Double Strike from
Septic Aftercut.
Limitless Onslaught needs Temporal Echo and this pair has few ways to make it on the Shadow side.
Temporal Rot solves that with Poison you already stack.- The Decay burst of
Temporal Rot deals Decay Damage around the target, so packs take damage even before
Limitless Onslaught.
Contagion and
Infectious Swarm work from range, so you only step in for
Limitless Onslaught.
The nodes that make it work
The first line under each node is the game text.
Temporal RotWhen Poison is consumed from an enemy, apply Temporal Echo equal to the Poison consumed, up to 10. If at least 5 Poison is consumed, create a Decay burst around the target. This effect has a 6-second cooldown. The engine. Consumed Poison becomes Temporal Echo for
Limitless Onslaught. The newest patch gave its Decay burst its own, much stronger damage line.
Septic AftercutWhen you consume Bleeding or Poison from an enemy, gain Double Strike equal to the Bleeding or Poison consumed, up to 10. This effect has a 10-second cooldown. The same Poison consumed also gives Double Strike, so the strikes of
Limitless Onslaught land twice.
Envenoming ContagionContagion applies 3 additional Poison to the infected target on cast. The contagious zone applies 1 additional Poison per second to enemies inside it.More Poison on the infected target and in the zone, so
Outbreak has a full stack to consume.
Envenoming OutbreakOutbreak applies 3 Poison to enemies damaged by its eruption.Puts Poison back after each eruption, so you do not start from zero.
Nightveil ToxinsIncrease the maximum Poison you can apply by 3.
Increase your Decay Damage by 9%A higher Poison cap and more Decay Damage.
Twinned StrikesIncrease your Critical Damage by 18%
Increase the maximum Double Strike you can gain by 2.More Critical Damage and a higher Double Strike cap.
Septic DuelistIncrease your Thrust Damage by 9%
Increase the duration of your Double Strike by 2 seconds.Thrust Damage for
Limitless Onslaught and a longer Double Strike, so it lasts until you cast.
Spells
ContagionFrom the skill tree · cooldown 16 sYour main Poison source. Cast it on the biggest target so the zone copies its Poison to the pack.
OutbreakFrom the skill tree · cooldown 9 sThe trigger. It consumes Poison, which fires both keystones. Base cooldown 9 seconds.
Limitless OnslaughtFrom the skill tree · cooldown 60 sIt strikes once per Temporal Echo on each enemy. Without Echo it hits very little, so cast it only after
Outbreak. Base cooldown 60 seconds.
Infectious SwarmFrom
Spellbook Infectious Swarm · cooldown 6 sA spellbook that channels Poison onto an area. The attribute plan meets its Memory and Intelligence needs. A player's ranged poison build uses it.
Vanishing StrikeFrom the skill tree · cooldown 6 sThe Shadow start spell. Use the stealth to get out when a pack closes in.
Spell bar, pet and item bar
The spell bar has five slots, then the dash and the defensive spell of your race on their own keys (the game HUD: Spell1 to Spell5, DashSpell, DefensiveSpell).
Pet
Blight Crow · casts
Venom Spit every 8 seconds
Venom Spit watches for Poisoned enemies and adds more Poison. That is more Poison for
Outbreak to consume, so more Temporal Echo and Double Strike from the keystones.
A pet can reach level 8 while you are level 25: one pet level per 3 of yours, and never above 20.
Item bar
The item bar has 4 slots.
Lesser Health PotionA healing draft brewed with enchanted water and herbs.Your only real heal. This pair has little Health.
Lesser Concentration PotionA clarity potion distilled from rare flowers and arcane essence.
Limitless Onslaught,
Contagion,
Outbreak and
Infectious Swarm all cost Concentration. Drink it before a long boss phase.
Poison FlaskA sealed container of potent toxin. Often used to create poisoned zones or deadly brews.Throw it to leave a poison pool: one more Poison source while your spells are on cooldown.
Earlwood FeastA lavish and filling feast prepared using robust beast meat and fresh eggs, slow-cooked over the rich heat of Treant wood. It provides a balanced boost to all physical and mental attributes.Eat before a boss: more max Health, Stamina and Concentration for a long time.

Attributes
Intelligence gets the most points: it gives the most Magic Power per point for the Decay spells, and with a little Memory it opens
Infectious Swarm. Adventure gives both Physical and Magic Power, which suits a build that mixes Decay spells with the Thrust hits of
Limitless Onslaught. Memory gives 5 Concentration per point, and this build spends a lot of it.
| Attribute | Start | At level 25 | Base XP cost | One point gives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Memory | 6 | 20 | 180 | 5 Concentration |
| Charisma | 6 | 6 | 240 | 0.5 Magic Power, 0.5 Support Power |
| Adventure | 6 | 20 | 200 | 0.5 Physical Power, 0.5 Magic Power |
| Physique | 2 | 2 | 280 | 10 Health |

| Energy | 6 | 6 | 160 | 5 Stamina |
Points are trained cheapest first: each one goes to the attribute whose next point costs the least XP at that moment. Trained this way, the points leave XP to spare before level 25, so 2 more points go to Memory. That makes 54 points for 123318 XP. The order the guide started from bought 52 points for 124125 XP.

Stat priorities
- Intelligence first. Each point gives 1 Magic Power, the most of any attribute, for every Decay spell.
- Adventure second. Each point gives 0.5 Magic Power and 0.5 Physical Power, so it feeds both halves of the build.
- Memory third. Each point gives 5 Concentration, and
Limitless Onslaught alone costs 30. - On gear: Decay Damage and Poison Damage first, then crit and Spell Haste, then Thrust Damage. The tree gives Critical Damage through
Pestilent Precision and
Twinned Strikes, which adds 18. - A higher Poison cap means more to consume.
Nightveil Toxins adds 3 and the Max Poison row adds more.
The planner link trains them in this order up to level 25. A point costs base x (1 + (points above your start - 1) / 3) ^ 1.1 + 100 x your level in XP, so the order changes the total.
Full gear
Every slot, as a target: Mythical, 3 stars, forge level 12. That is the best piece a player can own in this version of the game. The planner link carries this gear, so the planner shows its totals and damage.
Decay Damage and Magic Damage go on the
Graveveil pieces for
Contagion,
Outbreak and the
Temporal Rot burst. Poison Damage rolls as an extra, with a high base value of 12 per roll. The
Moonthorn pieces carry Thrust Damage and crit for
Limitless Onslaught. Spell Haste on both bracers shortens every cooldown (3 per roll at base). The undercoat, belt and charm take Health and Concentration, because this pair starts with little Health and the spells here cost Concentration.
The stat values follow the game's forge rule for each piece's stars and forge level. The planner uses the same rule.

While levelling
- Levels one to ten: the goblins of the Goblin Cave, such as
Goblin Flaskrat and
Goblin Ripper, drop one star
Graveveil and
Moonthorn pieces. Both target sets start there, so wear them from the start. - From about level eleven,
Rageborn Flaskrat and
Rageborn Ripper drop two star pieces of the same two sets, including amulets. Replace your one star pieces. - From about level ten, dryads such as
Dryad Beastwarden and later
Rotting Treant drop
Convergence. Wear three pieces on the undercoat, belt and charm. - At the end, farm the higher deed tiers for three star Mythical pieces:
Graveveil five,
Moonthorn four and
Convergence three.

Farming route
Graveveil and
Moonthorn: the Goblin Cave bounties. Goblins like
Goblin Flaskrat roll both sets, and the cave chests at higher deed tiers roll them up to Mythical with three stars.
Convergence: dryads such as
Dryad Beastwarden in the corrupted beast bounty and the final boss bounty, from deed tier three up for Mythical pieces.
Rotting Treant in the final boss bounty can roll Mythical at every tier.- Farm the cave first: it gives nine of your twelve pieces, and the page shows the exact chances per source.
Chance per kill is for a piece of that set on a normal kill. A deed run at a higher tier changes the rarity (the bounty and set pages show each tier); in this version tier 3 is the highest a world can open.

How to play it
The core rotation
- Open with
Contagion on the biggest enemy. The zone copies its Poison to the enemies around it. - Channel
Infectious Swarm on the pack, and let
Venom Spit add more Poison. - When the targets carry a lot of Poison, cast
Outbreak. The Decay burst shows that
Temporal Rot fired. - Cast
Limitless Onslaught at once, while Temporal Echo and Double Strike are up.
Envenoming Outbreak put Poison back, so recast
Contagion when it is ready and repeat.- Use
Vanishing Strike or your dash to get out when enemies close in.
Bosses
- Cast
Contagion on the boss itself so its Poison is copied to the adds around it. - Wait for a full Poison stack before
Outbreak, because
Temporal Rot and
Septic Aftercut have their own cooldowns. Then cast
Limitless Onslaught at once. - Between keystone windows, keep Poison up and cast
Outbreak for its own damage.
Packs
- Channel
Infectious Swarm on the pack after
Contagion: the zone and the swarm stack Poison on every enemy. - Enemies with enough Poison chain into their own outbreak, so one
Outbreak clears a stacked pack.
Limitless Onslaught darts between all enemies that carry Temporal Echo, so it is at its best on packs.
In a group
- Stay at range with
Contagion and
Infectious Swarm while a partner holds the boss, then step in for
Limitless Onslaught. - Poison applied by other players may also feed
Outbreak. Our files do not say whose stacks it consumes.
Defence
At level 25 with this attribute plan, before gear:
- Your defensive key is
Vanish. Hold it to block: hits deal no damage and drain Stamina instead. A perfect parry teleports you behind the attacker and applies Temporal Echo to it, which
Limitless Onslaught can spend. - If Stamina runs out while blocking, the block breaks and you are Stunned for 1.5 seconds. Players have no stun bar and blocking makes you immune to stun.
Dash costs 10 Stamina. This build puts no points into Stamina, so do not waste dashes.
Vanishing Strike puts you in stealth and leaves a clone behind. Use it to drop aggro when a pack closes in.- What the build lacks: Physique stays at the start value, so your Health is low, and the tree takes no defence nodes. Players report that
Limitless Onslaught does not make you invulnerable while it runs.
Your dash and defensive spell
Dash cooldown 0.35 s, 10 StaminaPress to cast. Dash a short distance in your movement direction, briefly gaining Move Speed.
Vanish cooldown 0.25 sHold to block. While blocking, incoming hits deal no damage and instead drain your Stamina based on the damage blocked. A perfect parry heavily reduces the Stamina drained and teleports you behind the attacker, granting Temporal Surge and applying Temporal Echo to them. If your Stamina runs out, the block breaks and you are Stunned for 1.5 seconds.
Stuns and guarding
- Players have no stun bar: monsters cannot build up a stun on you the way you do on them.
- Guarding makes you immune to stuns. A guard costs 0.8 Stamina per point of damage blocked (0.2 on a perfect guard); if the guard breaks you are stunned for 1.5 seconds.
Hard fights
Health is the solo value on Moderate: Physique x 20. Hard difficulty and every extra player raise it.
Wildwood Wolf Alpha level 4 · 2400 Health soloIts moves in our files fire Frost darts and leave a Chill Zone, and its pack moves fast. Cast
Contagion early and keep moving: this build is weak until the targets carry Poison.
Goblin Basher level 4 · 800 Health soloIts hits stun. Keep it at range with
Contagion and
Infectious Swarm, and block with
Vanish if it reaches you.
Goblin King level 18 · 12000 Health solo · defences: Magic 30, Physical 30It has 30 Magic defence and 30 Physical defence, so both halves of your damage lose some. Its adds are good targets for
Contagion to spread Poison.
Rotting Treant level 15 · 8000 Health solo · defences: Magic 15, Physical 15A giant that can pull you in with roots. Stay at the edge of its reach and let the
Contagion zone and the
Outbreak chain do the work.
Aelwynor The Wildroot Father level 20 · 30000 Health solo · defences: Magic 30, Physical 30The final boss has far more Health than the others and 30 Magic defence. Bring Concentration potions: you will cast
Contagion and
Outbreak many times.
Alternatives and what you trade
Nodes
- Take Echoing Vanish if you can spare the points: a perfect parry then applies Temporal Echo, a second Echo source for
Limitless Onslaught. It sits on the Elf side, away from this tree. - Swap
Envenoming Outbreak for
Purging Outbreak:
Outbreak consumes more Poison per enemy, but no longer puts Poison back. - Drop
Limitless Onslaught and its path for more
Outbreak and
Contagion upgrades if you want a pure Decay caster. You lose the
Septic Aftercut payoff.
Gear
Blightseed six is what the ranged poison video builds use, for
Seed Bomb. It only pays off if you run that spellbook.
Forestlinked gives Thrust Damage and Decay Damage at three pieces, but only drops from
Aelwynor The Wildroot Father, so it is slow to farm.
Spells
Poison Mist is a spellbook that applies Poison in a large mist. It can replace
Infectious Swarm.
Seed Bomb is a Decay spellbook that the poison video builds use.

Weak points
- Slow start. Nothing big happens until the targets carry Poison, and players report that Poison is hard to apply reliably.
Limitless Onslaught has a long cooldown, and players report that you can still be hit while it runs.- The damage is split between Magic Power for the Decay spells and Physical Power for
Limitless Onslaught, so neither side is maxed.
Temporal Rot only fires on consumed Poison. A player reports that
Chrono Spike does not trigger it, so do not plan around that spell.
Changed in the newest patch
The newest patch changed none of the nodes, spells or sets of this build in the game tables.
Not in the game files
These points matter for the build, but the game files we read do not settle them. The guide says so rather than guess.
- Whether Double Strike from
Septic Aftercut also doubles the Decay spells is not clear: the game text says it doubles your attacks. - How
Temporal Rot behaves when
Outbreak consumes Poison from several enemies at once is not in our files. The node has its own cooldown. - Whether Poison from other players counts for
Outbreak is not in our files. - Which boss uses which move is matched by the move name in our files, not read from the boss itself.
